Frequently Asked Questions

Isn’t East Grand Rapids already a fairly churched community?

While there are many churches in West Michigan, there are still thousands of people who don’t know the love of Jesus. We believe New Heart will reach some that would otherwise not be reached. We also believe being a part of this plant will provide unique opportunities to deepen the faith of believers.

I have children. What does New Heart offer?

It is our desire that our children participate in the worship service, so every service is a family service. We have resources available to engage your child, but New Heart does not currently have children’s classes. Throughout the week New Heart leverages programming for elementary, middle school, and high school students provided by partner churches and organizations.

Are there small groups?

New Heart is a small group! But yes, we meet during the week as well. There are a few options throughout the week for newly forming Bible and book studies. Please come talk to us and we can help you find a group that suits your needs.

How does New Heart approach discipleship?

We believe that individual attention (men to men, women to women) and corporate commitment are both vitally important to the maturing of believers. Individually, believers should be looking up to someone in the faith, as well as being looked up to by someone for faith. Corporately, we encourage every person to fully commit themselves to the body of believers in the place they are called to. We believe this fosters diversity, community, care, and identity based in becoming more like Jesus.
